UITS policy on computing account termination
The following outline for UITS computing account termination policy is based on the University Information Policy Office (UIPO) publication Eligibility to Use University IT Resources:
-
Discontinuing or graduating students: See
What happens to your computing accounts when you graduate, transfer, study abroad, or leave IU
-
Employee resignation: When faculty or staff
members resign, their accounts are deleted following their
resignation. It is the chair's or immediate supervisor's
responsibility to instruct employees to dispose of account contents
appropriately.
Note: Retired faculty and staff receive account privileges indefinitely.
-
Terminated employees: When the university
terminates faculty or staff employment, accounts are deleted following
the termination. It is the chair's or immediate supervisor's
responsibility to instruct employees to dispose of account contents
appropriately.
- Computer abuse sanction: After due process, if the relevant university office (e.g., Dean of Students, Dean of Faculties, Human Resources) determines that computer account abuse necessitates loss of computing account privileges, accounts are disabled.
