ARCHIVED: Completed project: IU File Storage (Release 1)
Primary UITS contact: Kristy Kallback-Rose
Completed: April 11, 2014
Description: The IU File Storage (Release 1) is a cost-recovery-based general file system that provides abundant storage for university data and complements the research data storage systems. The first phase was offered as supplemental storage for use with Intelligent Infrastructure Basic (II-B) virtual machines. The service is based on GPFS and operated by UITS Research Storage as an extension of the new Research File System (RFS) infrastructure. Data stored in the IUFS system is replicated in storage systems at Indiana University Bloomington and IUPUI (i.e., two copies of all files are stored).
Outcome: Provides a lower-cost storage solution to complement Intelligent Infrastructure Basic (II-B)
Milestones and status:
- January 2014: Phase I, Early Adopter Rollout
- March 2014: Generally available; see ARCHIVED: At IU, what is IUFS?
