Ensure that mail sent from your Exchange account to an outside address is encrypted

If you want to ensure that a specific message will be encrypted by Office Message Encryption (OME), you can do so by including [Secure Message] (case insensitive, with square brackets) in the subject line.

All other messages sent outside of the IU mail servers are scanned for certain sensitive data; if the scan determines that such information appears in a message or its attachments, the message is automatically encrypted. Messages with [Secure Message] in the subject line are not scanned.

If you want to ensure that all of your outgoing messages to outside addresses will be encrypted, you can create a template for your email client that will add [Secure Message] to all of your mail.
