ARCHIVED: Conference attendees and the IUB STCs
Because the Indiana University Bloomington Student Technology Centers (STCs) are funded by the student technology fee, IU cannot provide services to those who haven't paid that fee. Users must have an IUB Network ID to use the computers in the STCs.
In certain cases, departments may request temporary Conference Accounts for conference attendees. However, conference organizers must pay a conference technology fee (in lieu of the student technology fee) of $5 per week per attendee for those attendees who are not also registered for classes. Conference organizers may also purchase printing allotments of 100 pages for $4 for their participants.
For more information, see Conference use of the Student Technology Centers; direct any questions to
stcconf@indiana.edu. To make arrangements for
conference accounts, see At IU, how do I request accounts for conference participants?
Note: Sponsors must keep records of all conference account users. In the case of a security or policy violation, the sponsor must be able to supply identity and contact information for the user of the offending account at the time of the incident, and must assist in problem resolution.
Software
Conference organizers are expected to make arrangements well in advance for the funding and deployment of conference-specific software. As early as possible, fill out the "Software Request Form" at:
http://stcweb.stc.indiana.edu/software/You may need to log in with your IU Network ID and passphrase.
Note: If conference attendees need help with software that IU doesn't support, the STC consultants may not be able to help.
