ARCHIVED: If you receive a Message Encryption Notification

If you send a message containing sensitive data from an Indiana University mail server, you may receive the following notification from the UITS Support Center, indicating that your message was encrypted by the Cisco Secure Email Encryption Service (CSEES) (formerly known as the Cisco Registered Envelope Service) and delivered to the intended recipient:

When you send sensitive data, use subject keywords to opt into encryption; this will ensure that your message is encrypted and will prevent you from receiving this notification. To avoid receiving this notification in the future, when sending sensitive data by email, include [Secure Message] (case insensitive, with square brackets) in your subject line.
