Primary UITS contact: Melanie Ebdon

Completed: March 18, 2015

Description: The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs, Bloomington, and UITS are collaborating to create a university-wide application aimed at bringing online the processes of creating and reviewing faculty dossiers used in support of the tenure and promotion processes.

Outcome: Currently, each dossier consists of volumes of paper organized in large binders; because of the complexities of reproducing these binders (and/or carrying them from one location to another), in addition to confidentiality requirements that demand strictly controlled physical access to these binders, reviewers have to schedule time to gain physical access to the binders to perform their duties. Reviewers are also not allowed to participate in review meetings unless they are physically present, because reviewers are required to have access to dossiers during those very important meetings, which is currently not feasible for remotely located reviewers.

Once eDossier is in place, reviewers will have 24x7 access to dossiers.

The tool should also help streamline administrative work related to the production of dossiers. Candidates will be able to provide clickable links to online information relevant to their work, making it easy for reviewers to access that information.
