Connecting to IU Secure in Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or 10.4 (Tiger)
Note: Use these instructions to configure Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or 10.4 (Tiger) to connect to the IU Secure SSID with AirPort Extreme. For Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), see Connecting to IU Secure in Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
- From the AirPort menu, select
Open Internet Connect....
- With the
Internet Connectwindow open, from theFilemenu, chooseNew 802.1X Connection.
- In the resulting window, click the
802.1Xbutton (the orange padlock).
- From the menu next to "Configuration:", select
Edit Configurations....
- In the
Configurationwindow, in the "Description:" field, enterWPA: IU Secure.
- In the "User Name:" field, enter your IU Network ID
username. Leave the "Password:" field blank.
- In the "Wireless Network:" field, enter
IU Secure.
- In the list to the right of "Authentication:", uncheck the boxes
next to
TTLSandEAP-FAST, leaving onlyPEAPchecked.Note: Do not configure PEAP with an outer identity.
- Click
OKtwice to exit theConfigurationandInternet Connectwindows.
- From the AirPort menu, select
IU Secure.
- When you first connect to the IU Secure SSID, you will be
prompted to accept the server's certificate. Click
Show Certificate, and verify that:
- The certificate is signed by Thawte Premium Server CA.
- The certificate name is is
net-auth-1.noc.iu.edu.
- Check the box next to
Always trust these certificates, and clickContinue.
- You should now be connected to the IU Secure SSID; if you are
prompted for your credentials again, enter your IU Network
ID.
