ARCHIVED: IUB STC summer upgrade schedule 2014

Beginning in May 2014, all Student Technology Centers (STCs) and Residential Technology Centers (RTCs) at Indiana University Bloomington will undergo software upgrades. For the most current information about site availability during the summer, see the STC Schedule of Reservations.

Prior to the indicated upgrade period, each STC and RTC will have the same software configuration as during fall 2013 and spring 2014. After these upgrades are completed, the software in these locations will include programs that will be in place through fall 2014 and spring 2015. Software upgrades will include:

• All Macintosh workstations will be upgraded to Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).
• All Macintosh workstations will continue to offer Microsoft Office 2011.
• All Windows workstations will be upgraded to run 64-bit Windows 8.1.
• All Windows workstations will include the Classic Shell Start Menu.
• All Windows workstations will continue to offer Microsoft Office 2013.
• All STC workstations will continue to offer Adobe Creative Suite 6.

Notes:

• Submit your software requests using the New Software Request form.
• For the upcoming academic year (starting in fall), submit software requests by May 1. All other requests must be submitted at least 30 days prior to your "Needed By" date.
• Upload the media with your request. If you do not have the media, provide instructions or a URL for acquiring it. Your request is not considered complete until the engineering team has access to the media.

These upgrades will require each STC and RTC to be closed at some time during the summer. Most closings will be for one to three days, depending on the extent of the upgrade. Whenever possible, upgrade schedules for buildings with multiple STCs will be staggered so that at least one STC will remain open at all times. Some STC and RTC locations will be closed for construction/renovation for the duration of summer 2014:

• Business 415
• Education 2011
• Forest Gresham 102A
• Learning Commons (Wells Library, first floor; second floor will remain open)
• Psychology 120 (will not re-open)
• Student Building 222
• Wells Library fourth- and fifth-floor classrooms
• Woodburn Hall 211
