Configuring your Mac OS X computer to obtain an IP address automatically at IUB and IUPUI using DHCP
To automatically obtain an IP address, your Mac OS X computer must be connected to a network that has a DHCP server. At Indiana University Bloomington and IUPUI, you must use DHCP in campus housing.
Note: The following assumes you are using Mac OS X 10.1 or later.
- From the Apple menu, select
System Preferences....
- In System Preferences, from the
Viewmenu, selectNetwork.
- In the menu next to "Show:", select the Ethernet
option, usually termed either
EthernetorBuilt-in Ethernet.
- Click the
TCP/IPtab, and next to "Configure IPv4:" or "Configure:", selectUsing DHCP.
- In the "Search Domains:" field, enter the suffixes of domains you
frequently access. At IUB, enter the following:
ucs.indiana.edu
indiana.edu
iu.edu
iub.edu
uits.indiana.edu
At IUPUI, enter the following:
iupui.edu iu.edu - Click the
Apply Nowbutton. You will immediately be able to use your network connection.
