Problems sending mail (especially out of the IU system) in IU Webmail
Note: This information pertains solely to the current (i.e., production) Webmail interface for Cyrus email accounts at Indiana University. UITS is testing a new version of the Webmail interface; see Information about the Webmail pilot project.
IU Webmail does not use aliases or nicknames, and if you do
not specify a domain (such as @yahoo.com), IU Webmail
will use the default domain @indiana.edu. For email
addresses outside of Indiana University, you must use the complete
address (e.g., jsmith@yahoo.com). If you
enter only jsmith, your email will go to
jsmith@indiana.edu if such an address exists
at IU; if not, you will get a message saying your mail could not be
delivered.
Alternatively, add your colleagues and friends to your IU Webmail
address book. Then, when composing a message, click Address
Book and select the person to whom you're writing. For more, see
Adding and removing address book entries in Webmail
